Are you living the life you want to live?

Fear can come a knocking on our door in rapid succession in Midlife.

Some wee little rap rap raps and some bludgeoning great, door tremblers!

Common ones are, regrets of things not done, things done which we wish with every hair follicle that we hadn't done, becoming less visible, worrying about our kids, worrying about ageing on our own if we didn't have kids, worrying about ageing parents, abject panic about not having enough money, hormones, dear God our hormones, loneliness, dying early or dying in a very unsavoury fashion.

It's a veritable smorgasbord of discontentment, sweaty palms, shallow breathing and racing hearts with extra large sides of procrastination, indecisiveness and a lifetime voucher to an  'all you can eat', supply of stress!

Fear feels terrible.

I.e. We are allowing Fear to drive the damned bus!

Did you note the word, "allowing" 😉

I know we don't sit there and decide to have a day of panic induced fear and anxiety, but we can allow it to go unchecked and form a real snowballer of a habit,

OR

we can notice what's happening, consciously decide, enough is enough, and we are not going to give into it.

(Very Important N.B....if it's kick-ass useful fear- i.e. don't step off that tall building, or put your hand into the mouth of that raging tiger kind of fear, thank it, step back, take a breath and give yourself a hug)

  • Fear stops us believing in our own potential.

  • Fear stops us doing new stuff.

  • Fear keeps us stuck and can have us wasting decades of precious life.

  • Fear feels terrible.

The longer we stay paralysed by the fear of trying something new, making the wrong decision, screwing it up and succumbing to the deeply felt, universal smack right in the guts of "everyone will laugh at me if I get it wrong," (or is that just me?!) the more time we waste, the more we worry about time wasted, and our 'Regrets List' turns into some crazy ticker-tape nightmare.

Time is our #1 Asset.

Without it, we have/are nothing.

AND

living longer is not at all the same as dying longer!

No-one,-well, no-one I've met, consciously says they want to die longer.

Yet, it's so easy to give into our Fears and not change what we are doing.

Our fears can hold us back from living the life we want to live.

If you take a lovely big ol' long breath, in to 6 and out to 8, and repeat four times, then ask yourself

"Am I living the life I want to live?"

What comes up for you?

Make a note and then ask yourself, "What else..."

Make a note…

Then ask yourself, "What else..."

Get really honest with yourself.

"Are you living the life you want to live?"

Or, is that sod, Fear still driving the bus like a crazyboy?

There is little certainty in life apart from to keep doing the same things and expecting different results, doesn't work!

(ask Einstein!)

  • Is there is something in your life that you'd love to change?

  • Something that deep down, you know is wasting more of your time than you’d like to admit?

  • Something thing that simply put is either driving you batshit crazy and you are no longer willing to tolerate, or that you would love to include in your life and don’t know where to start??

Drop me a note and let’s have a conversation.

Love.Marianne
